Definition:
Genoism [jean-oh-is-um]
noun
1. The act of discriminating against a person(s) due to their genetic makeup.
2. The consideration or treatment of a person in favor or against their medical or genetic history or their heredity.
In order for you all to understand a little more clearly we will tell you what Genes are and what Genetics are.
Now that we know what it is lets get into it. Genoism is a very large issue in our society today. People are going to job interviews, and applying for things where as people are not allowing them to be accepted due to their genes. These people are not allowed to do the things they would like too because others would discriminate against them because they are able to develop a disease or are more prone to getting sick, or at least this is what their genes are saying...Harsh? We think so.
The main focus for our project is the discrimination against people with the mental illness: Depression and we will be talking about all of this in the posts to come!
